A NOCTURNE v1.1 is here! Brand new and standalone...
That's right, it's finally here, after many (perhaps too many) years of work! A NOCTURNE v1.1 represents the first fully standalone version of the game, as in you no longer necessarily need to have a copy of Blades in the Dark on hand to play it properly. Everything you need to play the game should now be contained within this now-quite-heft 196 page digital tome, plus the brand new sheets PDF.
A changelog would be perhaps too extensive to get into right now, but suffice to say quite a few things have been tweaked and modified from v1.0. I encourage you to read through and explore to your heart's desire, should you feel inclined, to really get a grasp on what I've added in and what I've changed around. I may go into more detail in future but for now, have at it! Besides, I mostly covered all the big stuff back in my last update.
All that being said, this isn't to say I consider my work on this game complete. There are still a few things yet to be added into this current document, plus a few extras I have cooking away in the background:
- The player and GM sections are a little bare-bones right now - full action descriptions and examples are to be added in the new year, along with some extended advice on starting the game and continuing it into the future, including finishing campaigns and so on.
- There's some additional art to be made for some pages - you might see a big black void here and there denoting where. This was kind of unavoidable - I wanted to get the game out before the end of the year, and when you're a one-man production like myself doing the artwork as well as everything else takes up a lot of time. Don't worry, though - there's plenty in there already, and the downtime over the next month or so will give me some time to really eye-up what I want to have in those blank spaces.
- Finally, along with the shiny new cluster creation system you'll find tucked in at the back of the book, I happened to design a whole new second cluster to play in, which I'm currently using for an in-house play-test game. I may package this up as a separate download sometime next year, once it's polished up a bit.
Oh, and one more thing: everyone who's already bought the game should have access to this new standalone version! Just make sure to head over to your library here on itch and hit that big red download button, and you can get your grubby mitts all over it, you sexy heathens you. Newcomers can also benefit from being able to buy the game for its current price of €15 for now - the price will be going up next year to reflect all the extra work I've been putting in, to €20, so grab it while it's cheap!
That's all for now, folks. Hope you have a merry Christmas, a happy new year, and keep things weird. Ciao!

I’ll be ALL OVER that new cluster once you get around to it - but for now, take some well-deserved rest! You rock, Calum 😊
